Описание

Global Studies: Encyclopedic Dictionary / Edited by A.N. Chumakov, I.I. Mazour, W.C. Gay. Editions Rodopi B.V., Amsterdam - New York, NY 2014. - 536 s. The International Interdisciplinary Global Studies Encyclopedic Dictionary has been prepared by a large team of authors from various countries and is published in the Russian and English languages. By the beginning of the twenty-first century, a new area of interdisciplinary knowledge emerged: global studies. Within its framework, various disciplines research globalization processes and problems engendered by them. A vast scholarly literature has already been published around the world on issues of globalization. This encyclopedic dictionary aims to reflect the very wide range of basic terms and notions related to global studies. Authors of the contributions in the Global Studies Encyclopedic Dictionary primarily include scholars in social, human, natural, and technological sciences and other researchers on globalization problems within ecology, economics, politics, culture, law, and the other fields of knowledge. Beyond established scholars, we also include professionals in economics and business, political and public figures, and governmental officials. The academic status of this volume is reflected in its Editorial Board and Editors, including, from Russia and over fifty other nations, prominent scholars and politicians, as well as leaders of many of the largest Russian and international organizations, research communities, and state bodies. The volume has been prepared by the Center for Scientific and Applied Programs "Dialog" with the support of the Russian Philosophical Society, the Russian Ecological Academy and with participation of the international nongovernmental organization "Concerned Philosophers for Peace," the Paideia project of the Boston University (USA) and the International Public Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies (the Gorbachev Foundation). It contains over 450 contributions from more than 300 authors in fifty countries. Finally, we want to thank our Assistant Editors, Michael T. Howard in the United States and Anastasia Mitrofanova and Vladimir M. Smolkin in Russia, and our Editorial Assistant Jonathan P. Branch in the United States.
